CANWEST DELIVERS EXPANDED NATIONAL POST IN TORONTO

An expanded National Post will be on Toronto newsstands tomorrow. Winnipeg-based CanWest Global Communications has restructured the newspaper's Toronto edition to contain stand-alone weekday Sports and Arts & Life sections as well increased local news coverage. A multimedia advertising campaign including radio, television and in-paper ads will promote the changes. The creative will focus on the additional content of the paper. Elevator advertising and promotion on OMG Media's Silverboxes are also being considered. The advertising, created by tattoo direct+digital of Toronto, will be supported with a temporary price reduction of the newspaper in the Greater Toronto Area. On weekdays the newspaper will be reduced from $0.50 to $0.25. The weekend edition of the newspaper will cost $1.00 rather than $1.50. "We've worked hard over the last six month to get the Post on a more secure footing and the work has paid off," said editor-in-chief Kenneth Whyte.
