U.S. SAUSAGE MAKER HAS EYES FOR CANADA

Jimmy Dean Foods of Cordova, Tennessee is bringing its microwaveable sandwiches to Ontario this month. There are nine different sandwiches, as well as hot dogs and hamburgers, all made with buns, biscuits or bagels. They first came across the border to Western Canada last week. Radio advertising and a public relations campaign for the product launch were created by Communicaide of Mississauga, Ont. Consumer Impact Marketing of Mississauga is doing a sampling program. This is the first time that Jimmy Dean, which is best known for its sausages, has brought its products to Canada. If the sandwiches do well here the company may open a Canadian office, Communicaide account manager Al Zizek told Adnews this week. However, that isn't likely to happen in 1966. Jimmy Dean is a division of the Sara Lee Corp. Communicaide was given the Jimmy Dean account without a review because it already does work for another Sara Lee unit, Hillshire Farms.
