FORD FOCUS SPOT TO REMAIN OFF AIR
By Adnews Staff
A commercial for the Ford Focus ZX5 will remain off English Canadian television following a ruling from Advertising Standards Canada, the industry's self-regulatory body. The ad, created by Young & Rubicam, depicted a woman kidnapping a clerk who has carried her bags out to her car. Ford Motor Company of Canada pulled the spot in early January after ASC received a complaint about it. Ford appealed the ruling, but the organization's original decision was upheld and Ford was requested to amend or withdraw the ad, said Lauren More, sales and marketing communications manager at Ford. Although the spot will not run again in English Canada, it continues to run in Quebec, More said, because the ASC's branch in that province has permitted the ad.
