MOVIE CENTRAL OUTDOOR CAMPAIGN BEGINS MONDAY

Toronto-based Corus Entertainment's Western Canada pay-TV service Movie Central aims to build consumer awareness and increase subscriber sales with a new outdoor advertising campaign beginning Monday. The campaign's tagline is "Better than renting." This is the first outdoor effort for the channel since the re-launch of the service in April when six genre-based movie channels were introduced. The campaign was created by Vancouver-based Bryant, Fulton & Shee. In one ad, an image of actor Tom Hanks from the movie Cast Away is accompanied by the line "Did I take the movie back?" Another execution uses an image from the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and the line "Wise Man Never Journeys to Video Store." Advertising will run for four weeks in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Regina and Winnipeg. During January and February Movie Central will also attempt to increase subscriber sales with a television and radio campaign which highlights the convenience and features of the Movie Central service, including its broadcasting of hit movies without commercials.
