COUNTRY STYLE TO CLOSE LOCATIONS, BEGIN MARKETING INITIATIVE
By Adnews Staff
Country Style Food Services Inc. of Mississauga is closing a number of locations descibed as "under-performing" under a stay order issued by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. According to the coffee and donut chain, its financial performance has deteriorated as a result of an increasing number of poor locations and under-performing franchises. The number of outlets to close is unknown, but the company said it will continue to operate over 150 locations. "The Court Order helps make it possible for us to restructure our current business and secure the foundation for growth and prosperity," said Country Style president Pat Gibbons. Gibbons joined the company in September from Burger King Restaurants of Canada where he was chief marketing officer. According to Gibbons, new marketing initiatives are being planned to build the Country Style brand and position the company for growth. Most recently advertising has been handled in-house.
