PUBLISAC.CA CHANGES FOCUS TO PRE-SHOPPING
By Adnews Staff
Transcontinental Media has remodeled its former coupon Web site Publisac.ca into what the company now describes as a "pre-shopping" site. The site now contains online flyers, discount coupons, consumer information and contests as well as access to a number of retailers with online presences. The information will be updated on a daily basis, according to the company. Montreal-based Transcontinental Group combined the Publisac.ca Web site with its physical Publi-Sac (Ad-Bag), which is distributed door-to-door, in March. At that time, Serge Bragdon, president of Transcontinental Interactive Marketing, said "a site of this magnitude devoted solely to online coupons does not correspond to a current market demand." Gilles Lagarde, vice-president and general manager of Quebec distribution at Transcontinental Media, said that the site's latest "shift to pre-shopping" is based on research into the needs of consumers in general, and users of the traditional Publi-Sac in particular.
