GLOBEINVESTORGOLD.COM DEBUTS

Yesterday Bell Globemedia Interactive introduced a new resource for Canadian investors called Globeinvestorgold.com. The Web site offers real-time quotes, market data, personalized alerts, reports and analysis. The site also provides personal portfolio management services such as a Portfolio Tracker that monitors personal holdings and a Portfolio Analyzer that can break down a portfolio. According to Bell Globemedia Interactive, the site was built based on the success of Globeinvestor.com, which receives about 800,000 unique visitors a month. Globeinvestorgold.com will initially offer a free 30-day trial. Following that, users will be charged $9.95 per month or $99.50 per year. The Globeinvestorgold.com Web site will carry advertising from E*Trade Canada and Merrill Lynch HSBC, which have signed on as sponsors of the site. Industry and consumer launch events were held last week to preview the site. A multimedia campaign based on the tagline "It pays to be informed" will begin this week targeting investors already using a financial Web site. The campaign was created by one company of Toronto and includes print advertising in The Globe and Mail and financial industry magazines, radio, television and transit advertising and promotion on the Elevator News Network. Public relations are being handled by Environics Communications.
