MARK'S WORK WEARHOUSE TO CONSOLIDATE CHAINS

Mark's Work Wearhouse Ltd. of Calgary will consolidate its 169 Mark's stores and its 144 Work World stores into one chain. The new chain will be called Mark's Work Wearhouse. Also, the retailer has ended its two-year-old relationship with Levi Strauss & Co. (Canada) Inc. and closed its eight Dockers test stores. Those will be re-launched as Mark's Work Wearhouse locations. They will offer Dockers merchandise in addition to Mark's private label brands such as Denver Hayes, Dakota and Wind River. "This is a very strategic move for us," said Garth Mitchell, president and chief executive officer of Mark's Work Wearhouse. "It will position our company as a super brand and one of the largest retailers in Canada." The company will continue to use Watermark Advertising Design of Calgary for the new chain's marketing. Public relations for Mark's are handled by Regoworks Inc. of Toronto.
