LABATT DELIVERS WARNING TO AGENCY
By Adnews Staff
Labatt Breweries of Canada's relationship with its main advertising agency, Ammirati Puris, is on the rocks, according to a report in The Globe and Mail. Charles Oliver, vice-president of marketing for Labatt, has reportedly delivered a message to the Toronto agency requesting better value for Labatt's advertising budget and the assignment of top creative people to the Blue and Blue Light accounts, the report said. This summer Ammirati's president and chief operating officer, Arthur Fleischmann, along with co-creative directors Angus Tucker and Stephen Jurisic and director of strategic planning Emily Bain, left the agency to form John Street. Earlier this fall Ammirati chairman Douglas Robinson also left the agency. According to the report, Oliver has also asked for "greater efficiency" from Labatt's other agencies Palmer Jarvis DDB, Echo Advertising and Mosaic Marketing Services.
