NEW LOW-FAT TREATS FROM PILLSBURY
By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Pillsbury Co. is launching a line of baking mixes under Nabisco's SnackWell's name in February. The first product will be a low-fat fudge brownie mix. In Canada the competition is too stiff to launch such products, Pillsbury consumer affairs coordinator Denise Nelson told Adnews yesterday. "We have no immediate plans to sell the products here, and it is unlikely that we will," she said. "Pillsbury baking mixes in Canada haven't done well because of intense competition. Other brands such as Betty Crocker are very well established. In the U.S. there is more room in the market." Pillsbury will pay sales royalties to Nabisco for use of the name. Leo Burnett of Chicago is Pillsbury's agency. Its Toronto office handles advertising in Canada.
