BC SAVINGS AND CREDIT UNIONS BEGIN STONE HEADS CAMPAIGN
By Adnews Staff
The Savings and Credit Unions of BC have begun a new Stone Heads advertising campaign which asks the question "Why bank when you can credit union?" The campaign was created by Vancouver's Wasserman & Partners Advertising. The campaign is a follow-up to the credit unions' "Nature" campaign which ran for six years. Those ads displayed birds and other animals promoting the advantages of credit union membership. The Stone Heads ads promote credit unions as an alternative to big banks by focusing on the differences between the two. Making use of the idea of a vanishing human element at Canadian banks, the ads consist of shots of stern-faced stone carvings from Easter Island and the copy "Looking for a friendly face?" Three 15-second television spots will be accompanied by print and in-branch advertising. The credit unions' Web site has also been updated to display the Stone Heads creative.
