Consumer products company Unilever, to promote its Salon Selectives hair care brand, has signed as the title sponsor of the upcoming television series Popstars - Boy Meets Girl. Produced by Toronto-based Lone Eagle Entertainment, the show will follow the selection and creation of a male/female recording act. The 13-episode, half-hour series will air on Global in March 2002. "This is a natural fit for the recently reinvented Salon Selectives line of hair products," said Sharon MacLeod, brand manager for Salon Selectives Canada. "As a young, cool and fun brand we see this partnership as a unique opportunity to showcase the Salon Selectives brand." Lone Eagle's first Popstars series recorded the creation of the all-girl group Sugar Jones.
