ADDENDUM: SMIRNOFF ICE APOLOGY

Toronto-based Smirnoff Canada's campaign apologizing to Canadians for the lack of Smirnoff Ice in liquor stores was created by J. Walter Thompson, also of Toronto. The campaign begins today and will continue for "a couple of weeks," according to Smirnoff Canada president Rick Fitzgerald. The ads, which depict a hand and the words "Sorry to leave you empty handed... We're out of Smirnoff Ice", will run in national daily newspapers and major regional dailies in areas where there have been shortages of the citrus-flavored vodka drink.
