P&G TO SELL COMET BRAND

Procter & Gamble, based in Cincinnati, OH, is considering selling its Comet retail brand in North America. "Although Comet is a profitable and recognizable brand, it is no longer a strategic fit for us," said Procter & Gamble vice-president and general manager of home care Colleen Jay. "We are putting more focus against building big brands that offer the greatest potential for global growth." P&G will retain the cleanser's professional line in North America as well as the Comet retail brand in Central and Eastern Europe. However, if an acceptable offer is not received, P&G said it will retain the brand.
