STANDARD RADIO TO ACQUIRE TELEMEDIA STATIONS

Standard Radio has made a deal with Montreal-based Telemedia Corporation to purchase all of Telemedia's radio stations in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Standard Radio will add Telemedia's 60 stations in those three markets to its 13 stations in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. "The Telemedia radio assets make a wonderful fit with the Standard radio stations, especially in Toronto, where Telemedia's EZ Rock and The Fan perfectly complement Standard's CFRB and Mix 99.9," said Gary Slaight, president and chief executive officer for Standard Broadcasting. This deal follows Telemedia's agreement with Astral Media last month in which Astral will acquire Telemedia's 19 radio stations in Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Both deals remain subject to regulatory approvals.
