ROYAL BANK BUYS CANWEST CONVERGENCE PACKAGE

Royal Bank Financial Group has bought all the advertising in a four-part convergence package from CanWest Global Communications, according to a report in the National Post. The first instalment, called State of the Nation, will be based on a poll looking at social and economic issues, the report said. A series of articles and poll results will be published in a special supplement in the National Post on June 16. The convergence package will also involve the Southam chain of daily newspapers. Global Television will broadcast 60-second reports during its early evening newscasts and CanWest's specialty channel, Prime, will air a 30-minute program. Additional coverage will appear on the Canada.com, GlobalTV.com and National Post Online Web sites and in Saturday Night and National Post Business magazines, the report said. Financial details of the package were not disclosed. The second instalment will be released in September, the third in November and the fourth in February. Each will be based on a poll looking at different aspects of Canadian life.
