PROMOTING LITERACY THROUGH ADS
By Adnews Staff
ABC CANADA is launched a public service campaign this week for newspapers to run, promoting basic skills training in the workplace. The ads were created by Cundari Group Ltd. of Toronto. They carry the 1-800 number for ABC's Workplace Education Centre, which trains company employees to teach others or directs corporations to where they can find teachers. Seventy per cent of businesses say they have a significant problem with employee deficiencies in reading, writing and arithmetic, yet only 2% provide training in these areas, says a report from the Conference Board of Canada. ABC Canada is a national private sector foundation that promotes literacy through research, advocacy and its Workplace Education Centre.
