IAB CANADA PROPOSES NEW AD BANNER FORMATS

Following the lead set by its U.S. parent organization earlier this month, the Internet Advertising Bureau of Canada is proposing a number of new banner ad formats as standards. IAB Canada is endorsing the new formats in an effort to standardize the industry throughout North America, said a release. The seven new formats for "interactive marketing units" consist of variously-sized vertical and horizontal rectangles as well as pop-up windows. Daintry Springer, executive director of IAB Canada, said examples of the new formats will be posted on the bureau's Web site at <http://www.iabcanada.com>. Other sites that will be debuting the new banner sizes include Yahoo and Toronto Star Television.
