Y&R APPOINTED WORLDWIDE AGENCY FOR JAGUAR CARS

Young & Rubicam has been named the worldwide advertising agency for Jaguar Cars. The appointment consolidates the car company's global advertising with one agency. Previously J. Walter Thompson handled advertising in Europe and select global markets outside North America, while Ogilvy & Mather had handled advertising in North America. Beginning immediately, Y&R's network of offices worldwide will take over the account, coordinated through the London office. The agency will be responsible for national, regional and local advertising as well as a variety of other related advertising and creative needs. Y&R will also handle the creative work for the launch of Jaguar's new X-Type sports sedan. Mike O'Driscoll, president of Jaguar North America, cited the launch of the X-Type and the new direction being taken by the company regarding its position in the premium car market as reasons to appoint one agency to handle the company's global advertising needs.
