TELUS BUYS INTERNET SHOP

Burnaby, BC-based Telus has entered into an agreement to buy Vancouver-based Internet professional services company Columbus Group. The telecommunications company will pay up to $12 million in cash and stock for the Internet shop which also operates an office in Toronto. Columbus offers Internet strategy, design, integration and application development services to Canadian and U.S. clients including Westcoast Energy, CIBC, JP Morgan Chase, Glaxo SmithKline, Kraft and Intrawest. The deal is expected to close by the end of March. Once that has happened, Telus will combine Columbus Group's operations and staff into Telus Enterprise Solutions, the e-business division of Telus Client Solutions. Toronto-based Telus Client Solutions serves large business customers.
