McDonald's Corporation, based in Oak Brook, IL, will debut Mighty Kids Meals in restaurants on March 30. The new menu item targets kids eight to 10 years of age. The new Mighty Kids Meals will offer the same toy and same size fries and drink included in the chain's standard Happy Meal, but will contain a double hamburger, double cheeseburger or six chicken mcnuggets. McDonald's Happy Meals currently include a hamburger, cheeseburger or four chicken mcnuggets. "Our Mighty Kids Meal was developed to enhance the McDonald's experience for kids who have outgrown Happy Meal-sized food, but who are not quite ready for an Extra Value Meal," said R.J. Milano, vice-president of marketing for McDonald's USA. The Mighty Kids Meals will be served in brown paper bags. Happy Meals are served in white paper bags printed with kids' activities. McDonald's is introducing this menu item in conjunction with the start of its new Spy Kids Happy Meal promotion, which will run from March 30 to April 18. The promotion is tied into the movie Spy Kids from Miramax. During the promotion one of nine Spy Kids toys will be distributed in Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals. National television advertising, created by Leo Burnett Co., will support the introduction of the Mighty Kids Meals.
