CITY OF BURLINGTON FIGHTING BRAIN DRAIN

The Burlington Economic Development Corporation is leading a new initiative to promote the Ontario city. The Corporation and eighteen high tech companies located throughout the city have entered into a recruiting alliance with the goal of filling over 800 jobs next year. A 12-week advertising campaign supporting the recruiting initiative is running throughout Burlington and its surrounding regions including Kitchener, Niagara and Toronto. Transit posters, newspapers ads and radio spots running inside the city are encouraging residents to stop commuting and start working in their own backyards. Executions running outside of the Burlington area are promoting the growing high tech industry within the city. A Web site at <http://www.jobsburlington.com> has also been created by the multi-media agency M7Media. The site features links to all 18 participating companies as well as background and contact information. The 12-week campaign runs until mid-May. Advertising was done by OK&D of Burlington, ON. The city's Economic Development Corporation is a non-profit organization that brings the private and public sectors together to promote economic growth.
