AD SHOP DOING ROUTINE FOR YUK YUKS

In six months KaganDay Advertising could be making ads for all Mark Breslin's Yuk Yuks comedy clubs in Canada. The company is is now taking a look at the way it handles advertising, president Jeff Silverman told Adnews this week. The 14 clubs now handle their advertising individually. Silverman said he would like to have a single agency doing national advertising and each club to have its own agency for promotions and public relations. KaganDay was hired recently to handle advertising for the new Yuk Yuks club in Kitchener, Ont., which will open in January. If the agency fares well it could be hired to do national advertising. A print and transit campaign for the new club will be launched early this month. The annual budget for the Kitchener club is $100,000. Yuk Yuks spoke to five other agencies but chose KaganDay because "they were like minded and not afraid," Silverman said. He explained that Yuk Yuks likes to run controversial ads. Past taglines have included: "Dyke Night, Bring Your Finger," "Bring Your Crack, We Have Chairs," and "Free Dry Cleaning When You Pee Your Pants." The Toronto ad budget is $250,000.
