HBC.COM OFFERS GODIVA CHOCOLATES

Canadians can now purchase Godiva chocolates at hbc.com. The Toronto-based online retail arm of Hudson's Bay Company began offering Godiva products to customers on January 22 as the exclusive online provider of the chocolates. "When we opened hbc.com for business in November 2000, we promised to meet the evolving needs of the Canadian online customer," said Dave Alves, general manager of merchandising and marketing for hbc.com. "The timely addition of world class Godiva chocolates will provide customers with even more gift ideas for Valentine's Day." The selection of chocolates range in price from $8.50 to $75, with delivery available anywhere in Canada. Customers in English Canada who purchase one of four gift boxes at hbc.com can also participate in Godiva's International "Chocolates and Diamonds" sweepstakes to win a 7.5 carat diamond ring or one of 75 diamond bracelets. The arrival of Godiva chocolates on hbc.com is being promoted with media relations, online advertising and an e-mail campaign, all handled in-house by hbc.com.
