By Adnews Staff
Chum Radio Group announced the creation of a new national sports radio network yesterday called "The Team." The 24-hour network will initially break with stations in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Halifax, Winnipeg, Peterborough, Kingston and Kitchener. "The concept of 'The Team Radio Network' is totally unique to North America," said program director Gerald McGroarty. "The ability to produce a 24-hour national sports service while still maintaining local sports coverage is a win-win situation for listeners across Canada." Paul Williams has been appointed vice-president and general manager for The Team. He is a former executive vice-president of Headline Sports and Telemedia Network Radio. The network's launch date and broadcasting details are not yet known. Chum officials could not be reached as of deadline.
