AMERICAN EXPRESS ADDS TO REWARDS PROGRAM

A new program guide started rolling out last week to members of American Express' Membership Rewards program, promoting the additions of new partners and categories for 2001. Once enrolled, members of the loyalty program receieve points for every dollar charged to an eligible card. New additions to the program this year include a car rental category and an online merchandise redemption category. American Express has also partnered with Toronto-based Incentivecity.com to allow Membership Rewards members to track and redeem their points online. The program guide is being mailed out to members this month. Card members can also read about the 2001 Membership Rewards program at <http://www.americanexpress.ca>. In addition to the guide, American Express is also using statement inserts to promote the Membership Rewards program. A second direct mail campaign will break within the next few of months focusing specifically on this year's additions to the program. The direct mail pieces and program guide were created in-house by American Express.
