BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE ROLLS ACCOUNT TO GBV

Bridgestone/Firestone Canada of Mississauga, Ontario has awarded its corporate and consumer advertising account to Griffin Bacal Volny of Toronto. Bridgestone/Firestone announced it was searching for a new agency to re-build its Firestone brand last month. Shortlisted for the account, which includes the Bridgestone tire brand as well, was GBV, Grey Canada, Groundzero Marketing Communications and Bates Canada, who was pitching jointly with Jam. GBV's responsibilities will include strategic planning, creative, media planning and buying, automotive media relations and sales promotion in English and French. Toronto-based Communiqué had been Bridgestone/Firestone's previous agency handling everything except retail advertising and some specific projects. Retail advertising will continue to be handled by Jam.
