BELL GLOBEMEDIA LAUNCHED

Montreal-based BCE Inc., Toronto-based The Thomson Corp. and Toronto-based The Woodbridge Company Ltd. launched their multi-media company yesterday. The new company, called Bell Globemedia, combines the television network CTV, national newspaper The Globe and Mail, Globe Interactive's online properties and the Internet portal Sympatico-Lycos. BCE owns 70.1% of Toronto-based Bell Globemedia while Thomson owns 20%. The remaining 9.9% is owned by Woodbridge. Ivan Fecan is chief executive and president of Bell Globemedia, in addition to serving as chief executive of CTV. Additional Bell Globemedia executives include Phillip Crawley, publisher of The Globe and Mail; Marc Tellier, president of Sympatico-Lycos, and Lib Gibson, president of Globe Interactive. Jean Monty, chairman and CEO of BCE, will be chairman of the board of Bell Globemedia.
