GLOBE INTERACTIVE BUILDS NEW BOOK SITE
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Globe Interactive, which operates the globeandmail.com Web Centre, has added a new site for bibliophiles to its collection. Globebooks.com will carry news, reviews, awards, articles, interviews, event listings and columns about books to the Canadian literati from now on, taking over from the Globe's previous book site, Chaptersglobe.com, created in 1998. Visitors to the new site can still buy books via an arrangement with Chapters Online. The site's content will consist both of reproduced material from The Globe and Mail newspaper as well as original material, including reviews and a regular column by Canadian broadcaster Pamela Wallin. Audio files, interactive author interviews and reader discussion forums are all planned. "Globebooks.com is a natural addition to the Web Centre and builds on The Globe and Mail's leadership in coverage of books and the book industry," said Globe Interactive president Lib Gibson. "Globebooks.com will be a favourite meeting place for Canadian readers to stay up to date on new books, meet favourite authors and share recommendations."
