Whether or not they have a driver's license, young people are free2drive.com, according to Young Drivers of Canada, based in Hamilton, Ontario. The new youth-oriented Web site went live in mid-December, offering information on getting a driver's license, owning a car and other subjects. Rick Rigby, chief executive of Young Drivers, said many of the program's students wanted an online source for driving information and to talk about their driving experiences. The site includes a personal odometer that allows registered visitors collect "klicks" and redeem their "mileage" for free2drive.com merchandise. There are also sections called licensing, which explains how to get a license, insurance, which covers what's required in each province, and wheels, which includes tips on buying a new or used car. In conjunction with the site launch, a Mystery Drive contest is running until mid-January. Free2drive.com is distributing 550,000 Web site "decoders" in What magazine and in Bootlegger clothing stores across Canada. Young people then take their decoders to free2drive.com and hold it up to the computer screen to see if they've won. Prizes available include mini stereo systems, personal CD players, free2drive backpacks and the grand prize of a Macintosh G4 Cube computer. Free2drive.com and the Mystery Drive contest were developed by Microforum of Toronto. Young Drivers of Canada is an enterprise of Ford Motor Company of Canada, based in Oakville, Ontario.
