TELUS TAPS TRIO OF AGENCIES
By Adnews Staff
Burnaby, BC-based Telus Corporation has appointed Lanyon Phillips Communications and Palmer Jarvis DDB, both of Vancouver, and Taxi Advertising & Design of Toronto to handle mass-media advertising duties in Canada. The hires come in the wake of a restructuring the telecommunications company recently began to change its focus from business units to what it calls "customer-facing" units under the Telus brand umbrella. These new units, including the Client Solutions division in Toronto, the Global Trading and Partner Solutions division in Vancouver and the Telus Consumer division in Edmonton, will begin operating January 1, 2001. The three agencies will be responsible for specific Telus markets, with Lanyon handling business-focused messages, Palmer Jarvis handling consumer-focused messages and Taxi taking care of Telus Mobility's wireless initiatives in both the business and consumer markets. Taxi previously handled advertising for Clearnet Communications, which Telus acquired earlier this year. The new agency roster was chosen in a review that included both new and existing Telus agencies. These agencies will work with a group of companies within the Omnicom Group including BBDO Canada, GPC Canada, Nolin Branding & Design and PNMD Communications, which were assigned Telus Corporation's brand and reputation work earlier this year.
