FAMILY CHANNEL PROMOTES RE-DESIGNED WEB SITE
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Family Channel re-launched its Web site at <http://www.family.ca> on November 9. The goal of the re-design was to create a look that would appeal to the tween audience, kids age 8-12 years, while still targeting children and families. Internet firm Yfactor, based in Brampton, Ontario, which has worked with Family Channel in the past, handled the modifications. This is the third re-design Yfactor has completed for Family Channel. The site offers a new navigation system, animated e-greetings, interactive games, and ongoing contests and promotions. Two new sections with content for the tween market are "Blast," which contains entertainment news, and "Rant and Rave," which is designed to encourage interaction between the Web site and the visitor. On-air promotions are supporting the re-designed site. Current advertising initiatives, including radio and transit executions as well as print ads in TV listings magazines and kid-targeted magazines, all display the Web site address. The on-air promo spots were created jointly by Triangle Studios of Toronto and Family Channel's in-house staff. The other advertising was created by the in-house staff and Visual Communications of Toronto. Media planning and buying is done by NextMedia of Toronto.
