EXCITE AND VOLVO PARK PROMOTION EFFORTS ONLINE

Toronto-based Excite Canada has teamed up with Volvo Cars of Canada in an interactive online contest to promote Excite's online shopping channel and Volvo's new 2001 S60. "Drive to Shop" began Nov. 1 introducing Internet users to online shopping through <http://www.excite.ca/shopping> as well as to Volvo's new S60. Players gain entry into the contest by referring a friend, collecting game pieces or playing an online game. Players can also win prizes, including the grand prize of a 2001 Volvo S60, by finding an online scratch and win card. Print ads in major dailies and consumer magazines such as Chatelaine, Flare, Canadian Business and Today's Parent will be accompanied with banner ads on sites such as 24/7 and DoubleClick, promoting Excite's shopping channel and the "Drive to Shop" contest. Although the contest ends Dec. 12, off-line advertising from BBDO Canada, will continue to run in the new year promoting just the shopping channel.
