Nintendo of Canada Ltd., based in Vancouver, is supporting the launch of the latest installment in its Legend of Zelda game series, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, with $3 million in marketing activities. The game, available to play on N64 game consoles, is the seventh in the series and the second for the N64 console. Nintendo originally launched the Zelda series on its NES game console and continued with installments for its SNES, Game Boy and Game Boy Colour systems before introducing the series for N64 in 1998 with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time game. Marketing support for the new Majora's Mask game includes a four-week run of English and French television, cinema advertising throughout November, on-site sampling in Famous Players theatres and prints ads in Teen Tribute, Safarir and Fuel. The campaign's creative reads "72 hours, 24 masks, 1 moon. The world is waiting for you." and builds on the theme of the game in which players have 72 hours to solve the mysteries of a bizarre land before a moon crashes to earth destroying it. Additional marketing activities include media and public relations from GCI Group of Toronto. Advertising for Nintendo is done by Leo Burnett, also of Toronto.
