SATURN BUSINESS SCHOOL PROJECT TO PLAN SUV LAUNCH

Saturn Canada, based in Oshawa, Ontario, is giving MBA and undergraduate students part-time jobs as marketing directors through its Saturn Business School Project. The three-year-old program invites MBA and undergraduate students to develop and implement a strategy to introduce a Saturn product. This year students working in teams will be invited to develop a marketing research study and marketing campaign for Saturn's new sport utility vehicle. The SUV will be produced as a 2002 vehicle. Students have until the end of January 2001 to complete the study and campaign within an assigned budget of $2 million. Submissions will be judged by a panel of two Saturn marketing and communications employees, a General Motors corporate affairs employee, a university professor, a representative from Saturn's advertising agency, Cossette Communication-Marketing, and a student representative. According to Saturn, its Business School Project is part of the company's intention to be "A different kind of company." Four teams will be chosen to receive scholarships ranging from $4,000 to $15,000.
