THESIXTHDEGREE.COM NOW RECRUITING ONLINE

Employers and employees in the advertising and marketing industries were given a new tool in online recruitment this week with the launch of Thesixthdegree.com. Created by Steve Carubba, former director of recruiting at Ogilvy & Mather, the site is the online counterpart of Six Degrees Recruiting, the Toronto recruitment company Carubba founded last summer. "I saw online recruitment was going to be a force," he said. The site is free and designed for both the Canadian and U.S. markets. Employees register and provide information for their profile including skills, experience and interests. Employers provide a profile of the job or position available including requirements. The criteria from the employer is then matched with a list from those employees who have registered in an effort to link "talent with talent." Professionals can also submit a reference for a friend or colleague that is added to the employee's profile. The objective, Carubba said, is to give an employer enough information so that, he/she can invite employees for a suitable job. The site is initially being promoted through word of mouth, email communications from the site and a direct email campaign. Public relations for the launch of thesixthdegree.com is being handled by Buzz Marketing and Public Relations Inc. of Toronto.
