NISSAN DRIVES XTERRA MARKETING EFFORTS ONLINE

Nissan Canada's new marketing campaign for its 2001 Nissan Xterra sport utility vehicle is designed to drive consumers online to http://www.winxterra.com. The campaign breaks Monday for a five-week run combining traditional advertising from TBWA Chiat/Day with online marketing techniques from N5R.com, both of Toronto. Print creative, running in urban weeklies such as Now Magazine and Eye Weekly, reads "must have visible scars to enter" and shows a man hanging from a cliff. The same creative is also featured in "wild postings" in the Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver markets. Television creative also targets consumers with active lifestyles and will run on specialty networks including MuchMusic and TSN. All creative features the WinXterra.com Web site address, where consumer can fill out an online entry form to win the grand prize of a 2001 Nissan Xterra or one of 16 weekly active lifestyle prizes.
