CITY OF TORONTO MAKES MESSAGE CLEAR

The City of Toronto is making the message of its new public awareness campaign to stop red light running crystal clear to drivers. The headline "It Won't Kill You to Stop." is featured in transit ads accompanied with the image of a funeral scene. A logo in the form of a traffic symbol is seen at the bottom of the ad and reads "Don't Run a Red." The campaign, from Ranscombe & Co. of Toronto, is designed to educate drivers of the dangers of running a red light, Steve Johnston, senior communication coordinator with the city's works and emergency services branch said. Transit shelters and bus backs will be supported with local radio advertising. The campaign concludes just days before the city begins installing cameras at select intersections throughout town.
