SHOPPERS DRUG MART DEBUTS NEW LOYALTY PROGRAM
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Shoppers Drug Mart yesterday kicked-off a national rewards program for customers of their stores. The Shoppers Optimum Program gives shoppers points for most purchases, including prescriptions. Ten points are awarded for every dollar spent, bonus points are granted for certain products each week and additional points are available through special promotions. Points can then be redeemed for discounts. The minimum exchange equates 3,000 points with a 20% discount on their purchase, up to a maximum of $5.00. Shoppers Optimum members can save their points to receive up to 100% off their purchases, up a maximum of $75.00. Shoppers Drug Mart is promoting the launch of Shoppers Optimum with the largest advertising campaign in its history. Three television spots, individually targeting men, women and prescription users, will be accompanied with radio, flyer, newspaper, billboard and Internet advertising from TBWA Chiat/Day of Toronto. The campaign, which runs for six weeks, will describe the benefits of the new program, its ease of use and its value to customers. Shoppers Optimum will also be promoted through an in-store recruitment drive assisted by two Hummer Limousines. Recruitment teams will visit over 60 cities across Canada, seeking to enroll customers into the new program. Public and media relations for the launch are being handled by National Public Relations of Toronto.
