COCA-COLA MAKES "SPECIAL DELIVERY"
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Coca-Cola is delivering support for members of Canada's Olympic team and their families through a new television commercial called "Special Delivery." The 30- and 60-second versions were created by Cossette Communication-Marketing of Toronto and tell the story of a Canadian family watching Marsha, an unknown swimmer at her first Olympics Games. Although she does not win a medal, her family's pride is demonstrated when Marsha's younger brother sends her a hand-made gold medal wrapped around a Coke bottle. A note attached reads, "To my big sister. You'll always be my Olympic hero. Love, Jonathan." The spot ends with a text from Coca-Cola that reads, "To each and every athlete on the Canadian Olympic team in Sydney, we're with you." Both versions of the spot will run in English Canada. The 60-second version will also run in AMC and Cinemark theatres in English Canada, while a 30-second French and English version will run in Quebec for a two-week run beginning September 18. Public relations for Coca-Cola's new "Special Delivery" are being handled by Langdon Starr Ketchum of Toronto.
