RONA SPONSORING OLYMPIC HOPEFUL GENEVIEVE JEANSON

Home renovation and decorating retailer Rona Inc. of Boucherville, Quebec has announced its sponsorship of cyclist Genevieve Jeanson, upcoming participant of the Sydney Olympic Games. Although the sponsorship is initially for an 18 month period, Sylvain Morissette, director of communications at Rona, said the retailer is looking at this as a long-term commitment and will likely follow up on its option to renew the sponsorship at the end of the term. Jeanson will receive financial support in exchange for participation in promotional activities and corporate events for Rona. The 18-year-old 1999 double world champion will tour stores and attend store openings as well as appear in a new commercial. The spot is scheduled to run during the Olympic Games next month. Rona will also be following Jeanson on its Web site at <http://www.rona.ca>. Beginning August 28, visitors can communicate with Jeanson through the site, read about her career, follow her results at the Games, read analysis of her performances, get news and press releases and read Jeanson's daily diary where she will make comments on events. Advertising for Rona is done by Montreal-based BCP. Public relations are handled by GPC Communications of Toronto and Montreal.
