GRAND & TOY BREAKS BACK-TO-SCHOOL PROMOTION

Toronto-based Grand & Toy has launched an eight-week back-to-school promotion dubbed the "Locker Search". The promotion, which takes the form of a contest, broke August 7 as students began preparing to head back to class. The contest will award one grand prize winner $5,000 and a Love Inc. concert for his or her school. A MuchMusic VJ and crew will show up at the school to notify the winner. To enter, students fill out a ballot at any of the 75 Grand & Toy stores in Canada. Students can also win a 2 metre-high school locker filled with $400 worth of back-to-school supplies, including a ClearNET cell phone. Grand & Toy teamed with Marketingdrive Worldwide Canada of Toronto to develop the "Locker Search" promotion, which the office product supplier expects to reach over 1 million teenagers. Advertising support from Harrod & Mirlin/FCB, also of Toronto, will include television, radio and transit advertising. Promotional spots will also air on MuchMusic throughout August and September. Public relations for Grand & Toy are handled by Apex Public Relations of Toronto.
