BROWN COMMUNICATIONS ACQUIRES REGINA PR FIRM

Brown Communications, based in Regina, Saskatchewan, had acquired POLMAC Communications of that same city. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Under the deal, Brown will add 20 new clients to its existing public relations operations. In addition to PR, Brown has operations in three other areas including advertising, interactive and strategy. POLMAC counts the City of Regina, Tourism Regina and the Regina Economic Development Authority among its clients. Brown's roster includes SaskTel, Cameco Corporation and Tourism Saskatchewan. No client conflicts have arisen as a result of the acquisition, which Ken Christoffel, Brown president and CEO, describes as a "perfect fit." "POLMAC has been both a strong competitor and an occasional joint-venture partner over the past 16 years," he said. Both firms are expecting a smooth transition. Barb Pollock, owner and president of POLMAC, has taken a new position with the University of Regina as executive director of communications.
