SCHERING-PLOUGH BUYS UP BAIN DE SOLEIL LINE
By Adnews Staff
Schering-Plough HealthCare Products Canada of Mississauga has acquired the Bain de Soleil line of suncare products from Canderm Pharma Inc. of St. Laurent, Quebec, which has licensed the line from Pfizer Inc. This follows from last year's purchase of the brand from Pfizer in the U.S. by Schering-Plough HealthCare Products Inc. Schering-Plough, which markets the Coppertone line of suncare products, now owns Canderm's marketing rights and trademarks relative to the Bain de Soleil brand, particularly those of the Orange Gelée line and StreakGuard sunless tanning lotion. The Bain de Soleil line will be relaunched in Canada with new products and a new marketing program, but details were not available at press time. "We are extremely excited about our purchase of Bain de Soleil as it enables us to strategically expand and strengthen its existing suncare line as well as Schering-Plough's portfolio of products," said vice president of marketing Anne Marie Wright. "Bain de Soleil has long been associated with European luxury and we intend to capitalize on the brand's rich heritage." Financial details of the acquisition were not released. Schering-Plough HealthCare Products Canada is a division of Schering Canada Inc.
