MEDIACOM MAKES SHELTER DEAL WITH TORONTO

Mediacom Inc. of Toronto has won a seven-year deal from the City of Toronto to handle transit shelter advertising for the entire megacity. The agreement harmonizes the seven separate transit shelter contracts that were in effect before amalgamation. The deal makes Mediacom the exclusive provider of transit shelter advertising in Toronto until 2007 in return for the city receiving a share of the revenue and 1,100 newly designed shelters, to be installed as the years go by. "This agreement delivers terrific opportunities for our advertisers," said Mediacom president Brian McLean. "Combined with our recent win of the Mississauga transit shelter agreement, Mediacom can deliver over 4,000 transit shelter display faces to our customers throughout the GTA, Canada's number-one market." Mediacom operates over 18,000 outdoor display faces of various types across Canada. Mediacom is a wholly owned subsidiary of Infinity Outdoor (Infinity Broadcasting), which is itself a subsidiary of CBS/Viacom.
