CHEQUE MAKER CASHES IN ON BLACK LEADER'S IMAGE
By Adnews Staff
Deluxe Corporation of St. Paul Minnesota has put a new line of cheques on the North American market that feature photos of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and events in the civil rights movement. A portion of revenues from the cheques will be donated to the King Center in Atlanta, Georgia, which distributes educational information to help people deal with conflict resolution and affect positive change in society. In addition, Deluxe is offering accessories in the King line, such as leather checkbook covers and a collection of symbols and sayings that allow cheque users to make their cheques more personalized. The photographs were taken by Ebony and Life magazine photographer Flip Schulke from 1958 to 1968. U.S. print advertising for the cheques will begin in January, created by Kamstra Communications of St. Paul, Minnesota. If the cheques are popular Deluxe may launch a print campaign in Canada. If so, it will be created by Kamstra.
