MSN.CA REACHES 5 MILLION
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based MSN.CA is celebrating the fact that it has reached 5 million active MSN Hotmail e-mail accounts in Canada with a series of celebrations, a new advertising campaign and a nation-wide contest. Playing on the idea of transferring "stuff" from one place to another for free, MSN.CA is offering Torontonians free rickshaw rides today in two different downtown areas. Sixty rickshaws and rickshaw drivers between Front Street and Queen Street and between Yonge Street and Peter Street will be identified with MSN Hotmail signage, T-shirts and hats. MSN.CA has also announced its support for the Toronto Millennium Moose in the City campaign with the "Hotmail Moose." The Moose will be located in front of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Also, in celebration of reaching the 5 million mark, MSN.CA is teaming up with MuchMusic for a four-week, cross Canada contest. Beginning Monday, Hotmail users will be able to vote on a series of "what's-hot-what's-not" categories using their Hotmail account. For those who want to enter, they can sign up for a Hotmail account at <http://www.msn.ca>. One winner will be announced each week until the contest wraps up mid-August. Four 15-second televisions spots, running on MuchMusic, will also launch in conjunction with the contest. Advertising for MSN.CA is done by Publicis Canada of Toronto. Public relations for MSN.CA is handled by Hill & Knowlton also of Toronto.
