VISA LAUNCHES SEQUEL TO MONKEY SPOT
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Visa Canada breaks the sequel to its 1997 "Monkey" commercial with the launch of "Monkey 2." The new spot is part of a trio of new commercials created for Visa's latest campaign. The first spot called "Penguins" began running nationally in English Canada April 24. The spot, promoting Visa Gold, featured a family's trip to the beach and the unexpected visit of a group of penguins. As the family waves goodbye to the penguins, they don't realize one of the birds has made off with their Visa card. "Monkey 2" breaks today, running nationally in English Canada, promoting the Visa Classic card. The original "Monkey" spot featured a man dropping his wallet at the Zoo and a monkey reaching out to return it to him, minus his Visa card. A third spot is scheduled to launch in September to coincide with the Olympics and Visa's sponsorship. Advertising for Visa is done by Leo Burnett Co. Ltd. of Toronto.
