UNILEVER COMBINES TOP THREE
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based consumer goods company Unilever Canada Limited has announced the creation of a new single operating company called Unilever Canada. The new company will combine Unilever's three largest consumer businesses, Lever Pond's, Lipton and Good Humor-Breyers. Lawrence Strong, president and CEO of Unilever Canada Limited, said the new company is the next step in Unilever's efforts to reorganize for competitive advantage. Beginning shortly, Lever Ponds and Lipton's sales forces will be consolidated into one and financial, administrative and human resource functions company-wide will be consolidated. The same functions for Good Humor-Breyers will also be included in the consolidation but will not happen right away. Kevin Boyce, who will become Unilever's president and CEO June 1, when Strong retires, told Adnews agency alignments for the three brands will not be affected following the creation of the new company and the consolidation of functions. In addition to its top three businesses in Canada, Unilever's brands include becel margarine, Sunlight laundry detergent, Dove and Thermasilk.
