KRAFT ALIGNS INTERNATIONAL FOOD BUSINESS UNDER ONE NAME

Kraft Foods International of Rye Brook, New York is going in for an alignment. The company announced it is changing the names of its various European companies to one global name. According to Kraft, the company had grown over the years in Europe following several acquisitions. As a result, local company names incorporated the names of the acquired companies. Included in the name change is Kraft Jacobs Suchard and Kraft Freia Marabou. Kraft acquired the coffee and confectionery business of Jacobs Suchard in 1990 and the confectionery company Freia Marabou in 1993. The name change is expected to be phased in over the next few months. Kraft Foods International is a unit of packaged goods producer Philip Morris Companies based in New York.
